Minutes of the Lions Club Chairmen’s Meeting, held in Lucca on the 2nd May 2009

During the Congress for the Association of Walled Towns with Lions Club branches, held in Lucca on the 1st, 2nd, and 3rd of May 2009, the Chairmen met to deal with some difficulties relating to the association.
The following clubs were present: Lucca le Mura, Marostica, Sabbioneta, Tarquinia, Ferrara Host, Como Plinio il Giovane, Viterbo, Bergamo le Mura, Treviso Eleonora Duse, Gallipoli, Avignon Doyen, Carcassonne, Saint Malo, Mdina, Ohrid Desareti, Namur Vauban.
Apologies for absence were sent from the Clubs in Capua and San Marino.
The meeting was held during a gala evening under the presidency of Diego Morlin, in his capacity as the new Chairman of the Association.
That which emerged in the course of congress work was considered, and then the need to give the annual congress greater content.
The ideas expressed by the Chairmen present can be summarised as follows:

1. Identify a service which can be supported by all the walled towns.

2. Identify a congress theme for discussion.

3. Give Clubs freedom to present themes to deal with.

4. Allow Clubs to introduce projects, initiatives, services or anything else undertaken in order to define their own walled towns.

As a result participants will have the possibility of obtaining useful ideas for their own towns.

Having heard the contributions, the Chairman undertook to send a copy of the minutes with a work proposal in preparation for the next congress in 2010.

The Chairman stated that there are two nominations for 2011 which are Ferrara and Malta.
